An act of apparent revenge led to a car crash in Nashville this week, and one of the drivers was not even involved in the situation, according to police.

It started when a 19-year-old man was stopped at a red light in his Pontiac at the intersection of Rosa Parks Boulevard. An SUV reportedly pulled up next to him, at which point the 24-year-old driver rolled down his window and opened fire at the driver of the Pontiac.

Two of the bullets hit the Pontiac, but one struck the 19-year-old in the shoulder. To avoid being hit by even more gunfire, he accelerated into the intersection, where he T-boned another vehicle. That driver had the right-of-way at the time.

According to News Channel 5, the wounded man ran to a nearby gas station for help. The driver of the vehicle he struck, fearing that the man's car would explode, also ran away from the wreckage. Luckily, that driver, who did not hear the initial gunshots, was not injured. The wounded man was treated at a local hospital for his injuries, which were described to be minor.

Police say they believe the man who shot the driver wanted revenge, possibly in relation for a past shooting. Investigators, who recovered several shell casings at the scene, say they are continuing to hunt for the shooter.

It appears that the driver of the car that was hit by the wounded man was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
